Who is Turf Teacher?

The History and Foundation of Turf Teacher Inc.

Our Story

Turf Teacher was created when the staff of Elite Landscape Service was having issues finding their CEU’s. The problem was the classes they needed were only offered on weekdays. How can you work on your business when you’re in class? And so Turf Teacher was created.

Our Approach

Our philosophy is to teach you how to focus on your business and how not to be an employee of it. Business motivation is key to your business success. Our classes and consultations take place online and on weekends so that you can focus on your business during the week.

Meet the Team

Turf Teacher, Inc. is a family owned and operated business that provides continuing education for landscape and irrigation contractors. We also offer business consultation and marketing services that include website development and financial software solutions.

Orval W. Jones

Founder & CEO

Orval has been in the green industry since 1968 when he graduated with a degree in horticulture. After graduation he worked for Robinhood Nursery for ten years before starting Elite Landscape Service & Nursery, Inc. Orval has completed multiple projects across the Southeastern United States and numerous residential properties here in North Carolina. In 2015 Orval changed the name to Elite Landscape Service, Inc. to focus on landscape management.

Eric W. Jones

Vice President & Lecturer

Eric has been in the green industry since high school working in his parent's company Elite Landscape Service, Inc. His undergraduate degree is in Landscape Architecture and currently he is a NC Licensed Landscape Contractor, a NC Licensed Irrigation Contractor, a NC Licensed Pesticide Applicator and a NC Certified Plant Professional. Eric is also a Professor of Horticulture and Department Chair at the community college where his father got his degree in 1968.

Brent N. Jones

CFO & Business Consultant

Brent has been in the green industry since high school working in his parent's company Elite Landscape Service, Inc. His undergraduate degree is in Computer Science from Appalachian State University. Since then Brent has written software programs for NORTEL and Wells Fargo. Brent's expertise is in financial software development and business management. Brent is currently working on web based financial solutions for green industry professionals.
